Hello everyone.
My computer recently would not load to my desktop. It would boot and go to the screen that allows you to select safe mode. However, I was unable to select anything as my keyboard wound not work. I have tried both my keyboard and mouse on another computer and they work. I thought my harddrive died so, I swapped out a hard drive from another computer to my broken one and was able to get to the desktop, however, both the mouse and keyboard are unresponsive. Interestingly, I am able to enter the BIOS in my computer and change settings, so obviously my computer does recognize my keyboard, just not at the safe mode screen or on my desktop. Any ideas as to what is going on.
Thanks in advance.

Your system model/specifications?
Have you tried booting your PC with a different set of RAM modules?

I had this problem recently. If you are using a usb keyboard and mouse, then you need to change the settings in BIOS to recognise usb

The suggestion by noelstory11 "If you are using a usb keyboard and mouse, then you need to change the settings in BIOS to recognise usb" should enable you to use the keyboard in the Windows Advanced Options Menu. However, I expect that you will face the same problem in Safe Mode as you do in Normal Mode ie. the mouse and keyboard will not work.
In order to investigate and hopefully fix the problem, you would need to create a bootable CD which will allow off-line editing of the Windows registry, and both UBCD4Win and BartPE will do that. You will need an XP installation disk in order to create either of these bootable disks (and I am here assuming that you are using Windows XP).
