Recently my hard drive has been making a lot of noise. It never used to be like that, it's not constant, but it does happen quite a bit. It's a grinding noise. I ran seatools, and it passed all the tests. Does that mean it's just a noisy hard drive? Or could something still be wrong?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Just as a side note. Fans can make a similar intermittent noise. You have narrowed it down to the hard drive for sure?

Well, I took the cover off while it was running, and the sound seemed like it was coming from the hard drive.

First shutdown your computer, unplug it and touch the case to discharge any static electricity.
You can unplug the power connector from the Hard Drive and reboot your computer. If the noise goes away then you beter backup any data you want to keep.
