Help
I have a Dell Dimension 4700. Recently, whenever I opened ANY application, Windows crashes and I have to hold in the power button to shut it off.This does not occur in safe mode. What's very odd, is that if I do a system restore in safe mode it works again, however if I reboot the computer it starts acting up again, and I didn't install anything new. Sometimes, it freezes on the Dell screen, and I have to reboot about 3 times in order for it to come up with an error about previous attempts failed at checkpoint Ihtr, and I have to boot into a recovery console and rewrite the MBR in order for it to start again. I seriously have no idea anymore.

Did you install any Windows Updates recently or have Automatic Updates turned on?
If so, it might have something to do with the latest .NET and MSI installer updates.
Anything else you recollect installing before this started to happen?

I turned off Automatic updates via sercurity center thinking it was the problem. I also turned off security center via msconfig. That didnt help. I also didn't install ANY new updates.

Problem fixed. It was comodo that is causing the problems. Now it's time to either get some new software or see if anything like this popped up on the comodo forums.

While it was Comodo, the error was probably caused because of file damage in Comodo.
Uninstalling your Comodo software and then reinstalling it...may eliminate the problem.
File corruption/damage...can occur in any program, at any time. The more important the program, the more likely the system is going to throw a fit.
