Newer drivers aren't necessarily going to improve your PC's performance (not drastically) rather tend to offer better stability by ironing out existing issues and improved features.
Also note that drivers are made available for most operating systems.

Look up your computer model here: Compaq Drivers

You can also make use of 3rd party apps. like Driver Reviver to automatically scan your PC and download the necessary drivers.

Visit the below link, select the OS you are using and download all the drivers:
Compaq 5WV280 Drivers

After you have downloaded the drivers, install them one by one and you are good to go!

Good luck!

Great advise for Dinosaur ME, I serviced one yesterday, a Dell Demension, forgot the model no. I couldn't get the old girl to accept a new Webroot anti-virus or anything. I did install CCleaner, it helped a little. 126mb ram, Intel pentium single core. It keeps giving a log error, when surfing. I couldn't make it stop, just not as much, any ideas?

A clean install of Windows should sort things out, use a LiveCD to backup the data before going ahead.
Also install an anti-virus with a low memory footprint, something like AVG.

The system is ancient though. :flowers:

Make sure you have IE updated to the latest version it will take or try an older version of Firefox or Netscape.
