Hi DnDer,

Its best to check out that link frequently (daily). New slots open up every once in a while.... (it took me 3 weeks to get in I believe).

Good luck!
regards, Elise

What a loser. You guys do a great job - we use the tool several times a day at my work, we couldn't live without it!
People like that should just be ignored - you can't win, even if you are doing the right thing. They think that it's their right to do whatever they want to do, and you can't tell them otherwise.
Just keep doing what you're doing - protect your reputation and keep saving the day. I actually experienced the problem on two separate computers, and a simple system repair did the trick to fix it.

Thanks!

(and yes, I have donated, and when I convince the boss to donate too, he will. )

In today’s atmosphere of ‘me first’ it’s very refreshing to find a group of people who are willing and able to provide assistance to those that need it. Many on this site go above and beyond in that regard and I give them all my heartfelt thanks.
To the few which refuse to appreciate it or are unable to feel gratitude, I hope karma kicks their ass.

You guys (and girls) do truly rock!
Quote to ponder;

Truth be told... I'm very me-first. I don't want to learn how to do this to help people. I want to do this because I find it challenging, mentally stimulating, and above all, fun. It's all about the personal satisfaction of solving the puzzle.

I suppose the why doesn't really make a difference, though.

 It requires a good sort of weird brain vibes. And yes, IT IS PHUN!!!!!!!

But let me tell you it is also the people that really appreciate my help that make this worthwhile....
regards, Elise

This is not a support topic for Combofix. If you have a question with the program you should post it in this forum:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum25.html

I am not guaranteeing an answer will be forthcoming as the author does not like a lot of information given out about the program. I have deleted the question on MBR.

You can't 'quote' someone's reply then change the wording - its not a quote then is it?

The whole idea of an internet forum is to put your own point of view across whether you agree with other members or not - unfortunately it's people like you who don't seem to understand this and have anything constructive to say that ruin it for the rest!

Oh and just for the record, unless I have taken the trouble to travel thousands of miles to the UK just to post this, I am definitely not the person that did the original blog/hosting (The IP address of leinss.com is 204.12.198.91 ~ Kansas City, USA) mine is 78.148.96.111 ~ Bolton, UK.

Grinler , thanks for the reply keep up the excellent work!

you know, its typically not wise to openly publish your IP address for the whole world to know. makes it that much easier for people to find to hack you, and yes, if the guy knows what hes doin its not gonna matter, but you know hackers gotta start somewhere, no reason to make it easy for them.

Good Day to all. I was wondering if the supposedly newly available copy of ComboFix avaiable thruogh the download link on the help url of Combofix is legit. I unfortunately had not visited the facebook or twitter site recently and uninformed would not of known if it was re-released again to the public. Not everyone in the world useds these social elite sites due to low echelon security problems. Anyway, on usage of the file that was downloaded today from Bleeping computer site, the file size on the hard drive was 3744 KBytes as posted under Windows Explorer. The good news is was available "I believe" and ingnorantly enough when I used it to support a client in Pittsfield MA with an virus condition today and after Malwarebytes A/M found a couple of things and MS Office Word not working, I decided to follow up with running this copy of ComboFix. The client PC has Windows XP Pro SP3, Latest McAfee Security suite, but it failed to protect him from an inadvertent fasle security message while browsing. Being a new user, it didn't occur it could be a fake alert and not really McAfee software already installed and monitoring as well as protecting his PC. Well when I ran Combofix to install, McAfee picked up a Artemis, !E82227620D trojan virus, then another in a few seconds later, Artemis !D682FB617E TRojan virus. First of all I was embarrrased but glad McAfee protected PC from damage to PC and then it tried to repair combofix ,but McAfee software pre-diagnosed it and summarily elected to delete it. What is going on here. Is this file a bad infected file still being left even on Bleeping computer site. If so, it is iresponsible to still post it. I do not believe my system was hijaaked or was redirected to another url either. Any Suggeations would be greatly appreciated.

That was very likely a false positive. Due to the nature of combofix, antivirus programs may flag it as a virus (since it has the capability of deleting files, etc.).

If you downloaded Combofix from one of the authorized mirrors (there are only two as of this post, Bleeping Computer and Forospyware), be rest assured that it does not contain any virusses.

Also, please take note of this topic on the usage of combofix.

As mentioned, this is not a support thread for Combofix. Since people continue to post support requests, I am locking this thread.
