This will be the first time I've built a computer. Anywhere I am going wrong? Is it too extravagant? Any compatibility issues? What are your thoughts?

Where are you planning to get the parts from? Its harder to tell if we can't get the links.

Some of that stuff seems a bit overpriced, but I guess I haven't kept up with the market that well lately.

I'd personally recommend two 1TB drives, just because that way you can backup things easier, and it'll drop the price by 50-100$

Also, for the case... on my first build I got a lighted one... and its not really that special. If you really like that case, go for it. I believe that just getting a case that has good cooling is more important.

Extravagant? It depends what you're using it for. If you're just gonna be using it for gaming, I consider it overkill. If you plan to keep it updated though, I consider it good for upgrading in the future. I consider it overkill.

I take back what I said about the hard drive. If you want a 6.0 GB/s Hard drive, its about the only choice you have. Still, I don't know if its gonna help that much with a 7200RPM drive. I guess you can more data off faster.

If I were you, I would still consider a different case. The front panels are annoying for many users. Here's some other cases I suggest you consider -

Its just that I find that case to be too expensive, but then again, I didn't have as much money as you to spend on my first build.


I know more about the Nvidia line of graphics cards, so its hard for me to comment on that card, but it is pretty large, make sure you're not going to need most of your expansion slots.

Other than that, everything looks compatible. Do you already have an Operating System for it? And what about monitors?

I have a monitor, OS, mouse, etc...

You have 3 RAM channels, you need a 3X2gig setup for this.
