delated my 98 windows accidentally

I was cleaning up our old PC deleting files in explorer. I must have deleted something, the comp. froze ...

It is now asking for me to install the windows disk and asking for serial etc. I bought this PC from my former employer, it was surplus. I do not have this info. What are my options, I am not a techie by any stretch - just stupid and thought I was doing something right by deleting old files that were no longer required as we have a new PC. I was trying to free up some much needed space as it often told us that we ran out of space on the C drive.

What is your operating system? Can you boot into Safe Mode? Are you familiar with Dos? Do you have a boot disk?

Will the computer boot into windows so you can get on the internet?

Did yiou get the Windows disc with the computer?

If it will boot up and connect to the internet, download magicaljellybean keyfinder
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
and it will give you the Windows key number.
