I'm working on a Compaq computer that is running Windows Vista Home Premium. The computer has very little resources for a Vista machine. There is only 894 megs of Ram and the processor is 1.6 Mgz.

It has run fairly well for about two years. Just recently it displayed some problems and I used system restore. All is well except that I can't open any web page.

When I go to Networking, I see that the home network is found and also that there is a connection to the internet. All looks right.

I have turned off and restarted the router but still getting the message that the page cannot be displayed.

When I was first called to look at the computer I noticed that there were two anti virus programs on the computer. AVG 8.5 and Trend Micro. I deleted Trend Micro and updated AVG.

I am still having problems getting either Firefox or IE8 to work.

Would certainly appreciate any and all suggestions.

Thanks,

Steve Bell

Hi Jazzmahn,

I am inclined to think as it worked before that there are remnants of Trend Micro conflicting with AVG that is preventing you from connecting.I had a browse around and think these two web pages I found may be useful to you.

www.squido.com/uninstalltrendmicro and the other is http://uninstallers.blogspot.com/

Good luck and have a nice Christmas.
