That's why I was wondering if doing a system repair would solve my issues? I'm even ready to completely start everything over again, since I already have all my files backed up. I have my windows re installation CD (not sure if this is the same as having the original CD, but this is what came with my computer) I also have the CD for all my drivers and too. I seriously think my system is messed up, everything is insanely slower than ever. I have to click on things like eight times for them to run.
I'm really at a loss on what to do. I'm just so disappointed because my computer has been running great for so long. I guess it really does take just one virus to mess everything up

Should I call my internet service provider? Maybe they can help me?

Well, when I follow the instructions to install the NIC, there's a part where I have to select Have Disk and then open the driver folder. Whenever I do that I get an error telling me there is no system information for that hardware.
I also installed the broadcom drivers too but still no luck. I get an error telling me they're not installed. I think I'll have to call Dell, but they'll probably charge me. Grrr. Plus I really need to connect to the net so I can get updates and service packs, my windows XP was super old! I feel like I went back in time like 7 years.
Maybe I should make another thread for this topic since it's no longer a sound issue anymore.

you could also try downloading the intel driver from dell site as it will automatically extract and run the setup program,
