wireless not enabled... can't figure how to "enable"...fairly new and bought it from buddy with no paperwork.. windowsvista if that helps.. katesdad

On my HP laptop I click on control panel then click on HP Wireless Assistant.

Each laptop is different. lets try this. right click on desktop, choose personalize, choose: "windows mobility center" (bottom left corner)
Is there an option to turn on (enabe) wireless there ?

there is normally a buton located either above the keyboard or along the front edge of the laptop.
