I tried refreshing it, restarting, but still, there are no icons on my desktop. there are names, but the icon is just the unknown file type icon. same with inside my documents and stuff, this isn't too fun.

any ideas?

Right-click anywhere on your Desktop and select View
Is the box by Show Desktop Icons ticked?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
