What do you do with your system? You might actually need the better graphics card, and thats a pretty high end one, or it was for its time. Its probably faster than anything else you'll get for cheap.
Anyways, here's a fairly cheap one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...0-465-_-Product
Try and fiddle around with it some more. You really shouldn't have to replace your card just for brightness. If you go to your control panel, hit "display" and then "calibrate color" you might be able to find something that helps, like the gamma.

I mainly use it for Photoshop and word processing, and sometimes 3ds max.
Whatever card would be cheap, Win7-compliant, and pretty much do what this card did would be awesome!=) I just don't know what works in my system, so I wanted to ask here before I do it. A link to a newegg card that would be compatible would be great for me!XD Is that one compliant, Vaerli?=)

It should be compliant. I believe your GeForce FX 5950 Ultra has a AGP 8x slot, which you will have to take out, and replace with whichever one you get. I looked through some .pdfs from it, and it said it was an AGP 8x slot.

I might actually like ATI cards if I could ever find out how their numbering system works. Of course, Nvidia's 100s series confuses me now, its not much better either.

So would the oldest card on that list, GeForce 6100, be as good as my GeForce FX 5950 Ultra card? I'm interested in the oldest one because I assume it'll be the cheapest and also the closest to my old card (from about 5 years ago!), so it should do what my card does and fit in my system and with my motherboard or whatever. Please let me know.
Thanks

Thats still the best solution for you. You can't get a much cheaper video card. The 6100's are obsolete to the point that they don't even sell them anymore.
If you really want to shave 10$ off, you can go for this card, but the brand isn't as well known. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814143040

Anyway, this card would be your best bet:
EVGA GeForce 6200 (Win 7 compatible)

ummmm the 6000 series is ancient. 6200 is older, I think something newer would suite him far better. if he really wants NVIDA at least a 9xxx card or a 2xx series card.

.............but can you get one for an AGP slot though. Agreed, the cards suggested will be considerably slower than the 5900 currently used.

I have no problems suggesting the latest card mate, just that he has an AGP 4X/8X slot for expansion.
The 6200 is the most popular nvidia card for the AGP interface right now. There is also the 7600 GS but that's not exactly cheap nor is it reliable(usage and compatibility issues).
ATI cards offer more bang for the buck but the decent ones are expensive (starts from $60) comparatively, leaving only the older models at lower prices.
If OP could post a budget, we might be able to suggest the perfect card.
