Hi,
Welcome to BC!!
I would like you to check a couple of things. First, check the volume control and make sure that it turned all the way up. Next check that it isn't muted. That can be the cause of no sound frequently. The last thing I would like you to open a Terminal. Go to Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal. From there I would like you to copy or enter the following command.
Cheers!

lspci l = LThis will give you some output, if you could copy that, highlight all the data, right click and copy, then past in your next reply.
Cheers!
