And that's what I got so far. As it being my first build, I might have overestimated/underestimated some items, and what not.
Forget about keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor, OS.

Any thoughts, tweeks, suggestions, concerns? I really appreciate it.

Hey lad, for less than 800 you can get a 5770 and a PIIx4 with some DDR3 RAM.

Case - Antec 300
CPU - PIIx4
Mobo - ASRock M3A785GXH
RAM - Patriot G 2x2GB
GPU - 5770
PSU - OVZ 700 Watt
HDD - 500GB Caviar Green
DvD Rom - Sony RW

I'd suggest adding a Scythe Mugen 2 CPU cooler aswell. When it comes in stock

Total w/o rebates it $743 and $703 w/ rebates. You can add a Windows 7 OEM in if you wish too.

P.s: If that build is fine for you as it is, I'd suggest going for a pricer case made by Lian Li. They have some brilliant cases and the craftsmanship is the best around!

Better CPU. The one you have in it is the Tri core- so 3 cores, the one I have is the quad core and it has a unlocked multiplier which helps for overclocking.

The GPU is better.

The RAM is also DDR3, the fact that you have DDR3 now and the AM3 socket will help you for upgradability in the future, DDR2 ram is quite expensive now as to what it once was.

The PSU is bigger, but that's not really that important for now. It is modular and there's plenty of cables for any add on card you ever want to put in it.

And the Mobo is better too since it's just the AM3 socket, motherboards that are AM2+/AM3 only use DDR2 RAM. While a mobo that is just AM3 will use DDR3 RAM.

That HDD is the Caviar Green, if you looked about you'll see that Western Digital have 3 types of that hard drive. You have the Caviar Blacks, which are the fastest; then the caviar Green which are second fastest; then lastly the Blue, which are the slowest.

Also, that optical drive you put is may have lightscribe support but surely you'll want to go with a Sata drive and not an IDE one. And it's also quite pricey for an optical drive.

Also, the Case is just a tried and tested weapon. You can check it's reviews on Newegg. Thousands of people have bought it cause it is great. Rosewill would be more of a substandard manufactuer.

Well...I'm willing to say that Asus is somewhat overrated in esteem by unknowing component buyers..at one time their boards may have merited the praise heaped on them..but I don't get that feeling over the last couple of years.

FWIW: Asrock motherboards (which seem to hit the price/performance mark well) are also made by same company.

Sapphire has been a main distributor of ATI products for several years now.
