Old router with new computer? Will they work together?

Hello I have a brand new laptop, a 5 year old desktop with a not sure how old router. It is a 2.4 g d link.

Just tried it, but doesnt seem to work.

Tried what and it didn't work? Wireless? Does the old PC connect and how - wireless or wired?

What Windows version(s) do you have?

Check whether your new computer is compatible with the old router. But I suggest you to buy a new one, there are lots of affordable routers or even cheap wireless routers that can fit with your computer specs.
