Google Toolbar - Where did it go?

Hi,

I have been using Google Toolbar for Firefox up until 2 days ago when it suddenly disappeared from my browser. (Never to be seen again, I think)
I have tried at least 4 download/install attempts and while the download clearly takes place, it does not install in Firefox.

I do not know if it has been affected by a Windows XP update or an update of Kaspersky Internet Security but I have exhausted my ideas and also suggestions on some websites.
Today, I downloaded Googlebar which is a lite version of Google Toolbar and it installed first time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
