I want to fly from Manchester England to Indianapolis.I have found a flight via Newark which has a layover time of 1hr 40 mins.Having never caught a connecting flight i have a few questions.

1.Is this layover time long enough.
2.When i get to Newark do i have to go through customs or just do this in Indianapolis.
3.Do i have to wait for my luggage in Newark or will it get transferred straight to the other plane.

Thanks for any answers.

I would think that your luggage should be transferred to your connecting flight for you, and you don't have to take possession of it in the interim. I can't say if the layover time is enough, but I would ask myself what happens if the originating flight is delayed for, say, over an hour, and your connecting flight happens to be on the other side of the airport. I think they'll wait for you, since they know you should be on it, but you'll still be on the run.
