BleepingComputer.com: Password generator program

I thought of this idea that there should be a downloadable program to generate and remember unique passwords to every site you visit that requires a password.

Everyone knows that it is dangerous to have a same password for every site you use that requires a password.

However, it is very inconvient to have to create a different uniqure password for every site you ever visit that requires one. It would be near impossible to accuraetly and safely store such passwords.

Does anyone know of a program that you can download that will safely generate unique passwords and apply them to any and all sites you may visit?

Ok, I am very undecided.

Should I go with SuperGenPass or pay $30 and go with Roboform?

What does Roboform do that SuperGenPass doesn't?

Also, I must say, my computer might be compromised. That is why I am considering using a password program like this. I am not for sure my computer is actually compromised or not, I have an ongoing thread in the HiJack this and viruses thread, and have been trying to determine how infected my computer may be.

If I think my computer might be compromised, would it be safer to go ahead and install Roboform or SuperGenPass while trying to determine the health of my computer, or should I wait till I am sure I have a clean computer before going with a password generator program?

I'm partial to SuperGenPass (obviously, since I recommended it!) largely because it doesn't store your password anywhere. It relies on a combination of the web site's name, your master password, and (I think) the username you use on the website to calculate the password on the fly.
