MsIE Internet connection slows down w/ Windows 7

Hi there!

This is on a Vista upgraded to a Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6550 2,33 Ghz and 2 GB RAM.

After the upgrade to Windows 7 I have the impression that the PC is faster, but IE 8 hangs frequently.

After a more or less short time the Internet connection slows down and hangs completely at the end: waiting for http://www.bleepingcomputer.com or website found. Waiting for reply... and nothing goes... When one Window or Tab hangs the others are doing the same

I still can send and receive e-mails however. Another PC (XP) on the same DSL box works fine and opens the addresses which don't work anymore on the Windows 7 PC. I've switched the LAN cables - didn't help

Rebooting the PC is the only way. I had similar problems on this PC with Vista, (I blamed Vista) but I have the impression that it was not so often.

I went thru this: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic87058.html - didn't bring me any further.

The PC is protected by Avast Free. I'm using Spybot, Ad-Aware and Spywareblaster. On Vista I used Zonelabs Firewall, but I uninstalled it before upgrading to Windows 7 - so far I didn't yet install it again.

Although I do not think that there is any malware I followed the steps as requested here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...rnet+connection

As I expected nothing dramatic was found - the problem still persists.

What else can I do? Are these incidents logged somewhere?

hi,

i get this too - pc speed seems fne - but using IE is very slow - especially on startup :huh:

im using a dell 2.3G with 3G os ram

hi - have tried crome on xp and didnt like it - but firefox could be a good idea

From your Event Viewer detail the first entry seems to indicate you are using Open Office. It recommends you "check the problem history in the Action Center control panel"
Your Open Office may be trying to start up various programs that are not necessary - check with msconfig.exe or your version may have compatibility issues with Win7.

I've installed now Firefox. Keeping IE8 as my default browser I intend to check the URL with Firefox when it hangs in IE8.

Regarding the reported Event Viewer Open Office problem I think I remember that this occured while I had a large .pps which I couldn't quit with the "Escape" key at the end. However I could find nothing about it in the action center. I've checked and found only one soffice.bin and one soffice.exe.

Also I don't feel that my problem has to do with processor capacity used by Open Office, when "my" problem happens I usualy have only Internet Explorer Windows open.

Curious to see now how Firefox will act when MSie slows down...

The bad news: Same problems with Mozilla as with IE, after testing during one week.

Any ideas where to find the reason for this?

Suggest you uninstall Spybot and try accessing the web without it for a while at least.
Are you running any other secutity applications?

hi all,

mine is running a bit better recently - have noted that the download rate is back up to around 5meg - plus i have upgrade drivers on wifi adapter
