I know there are a few websites that allow you to upload a file and scan it to check for bad things but I can't remember any of them and don't really know what to look for. Could someone be nice enough to link me to one please?

Also If I download the file just to upload it, will it still be able to infect my computer? I know that its an .exe file but I want a report on it. Thanks for any help

If the file you download has a virus then yes it will infect your pc, dont mean to be rude, cause it wont matter to if you're just gonna upload it.

I dont know any websites

Jotti and virustotal are both probably the best known sites for you to upload files to. As to whether its safe to DL a questionable file just to upload it I would not think so.

Virus Total & Jotti

In theory it is safe to download a questionable file to upload it for scan(s) as long as it is not executed. How ever you may get more then you bargain for by just visiting a site that hosts the questionable file(s). These can come in the form of drive-bys or unrequested downloads that you have no idea are happening.
