I have a Dell Inspiron 600m. Recently, shut down takes forever. All right, between three and five minutes. (It feels like forever.) Boot takes too long, as well. It seems to take an inordinate amount of time to load drivers and such.
In addition, there are times when the system dramatically slows, but the processor is not running at 100 per cent. Other times, it is running at 100 per cent, but most is taken up by the system idle process.
I have defragmented the hard drive. I have run Spybot, Ad-aware, Secure Clean, and CleanUp! I have removed several programs that weren't all that important to me. The number of photographs is not that great. There is very little, if any music. (The original .wav files are there, but nothing downloaded.)
The Event Viewer has no alerts.
So, any suggestions?
Thanks.
Cas
