laptop to PC via HDMI No sound

Hi,

I am struggling with HDMI connection. I can display picture but not sound. :huh:

I am trying to connect my Dell mini 10 laptop with Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 500 / High Definition Audio HDMI / Realtec Audio output / Windows XP to a Panasonic TV.

Please note: I have searched the forum, but have not been able to find a thread which covers my particular problem.

Are you sure you are using the correct cord?

why won't my laptop work?

There is a standard HDMI port on both my laptop and TV. The cable you are suggesting on your link would not fit.
I am confused, perhaps you could explain?

They are rated @ 1.3b / 10.2Gbps M/M and @ 1.3b / 5Gbps M/M, but both are rated for video and audio
So it has to be something else

I solved this by going in to the sound options on my computer (which you can access in your control panel) then set your sound default as HDMI. This should solve the problem, just remember to set the default back to the laptops speakers when you are finished using it on your TV.
