BleepingComputer.com: Puter lost a 1tb internal HD, poof, can't see it anymore

Only thing I have done is reboot a couple of times. It's basically a storage drive, all music, videos, pics etc. Been running Picasa quite a lot lately, otherwise nothing much has been changed.

What other info do you need?

Question - What manufacturer Hard Drive do you have?

Have you tried running their testing utility?

Does the drive show in your BIOS?

Sorry, I don't really know what brand it is. I did the Run CMD drive letter thing and it doesn't show there either.

If you can't tell, I don't know very much about this stuff.

OK .

The BIOS is where all properly attached/functional hardware items...should first be recognized. If you hard drive is attached to the motherboard and it's not seen in the BIOS...things could be tough. If you have used this drive and it was properly seen before in XP, this should be one of the first things you check.

And...you should open the case and check to make sure that all cables are still properly connected.

If the drive appears to be properly recognized on the main screen of the BIOS, then we have more work to do.
