Hi,
I've picked out a collection of components (and so not really looking for suggestions), and though I've already checked myself, I'd like to be absolutely sure that all of these parts are compatible, and whether I'll need anything like a CPU heatsink etc.

My hardware:

The overall price comes to £898.47

Scan seems to be down for me atm. But yes that CPU is a 64 bit one.

On your sound card though, I'd go with the Xonar DX from Asus.

For your mobo the UD4P would do just as great a job as the Asus Crosshair you have their, and save you about £30 or so.

Also, I'm not sure what HDD that is cause the site won't work. But a WD Black is the fastest among those type of drives, Black>Green>Blue I think it is. Or maybe black>blue>green.

Everything else looks good though, for me I'd change the case, but that's just me as I don't like the Antec 900's. One thing though, you might want to consider adding an aftermarket cooler to that setup. The Mugen 2 is great for it's price!

Scan has the exact same mobo you said about for ~£9 cheaper still, but I'm not sure about that mobo because it doesn't have any 8-pin sockets for fans =O

Also, the CPU fan is a bit expensive compared to others I've just been looking at on Scan =S

the asus had 8x 3-pin slots was the confusion. and the ud4p doesn't have any in the desc. =O

and thx for ue advice about the mugen, ill get that one instead now ^_^

Also, Mugen 2 is only 324-1200 rpm - the ones found were at least 2000. oh well, im sure the mugen's got other stats that are better ^_^

A bigger fan doesn't have to turn as fast as a smaller one, to move the same amount of air.
Lower RPM = less noise
RPM is not as important, as CFM.

If you look here , you'll see the fan sockets. I count 4. That should be enough tbh, not to mention you can get adapters too that will connect fans to a 4 pin cable from your PSU.
