BleepingComputer.com: Vista recovery not working!

Hi All

I have a rather annoying problem!! (tha'ts an understatement.... but I'm trying to stay calm )

Problem:;-

Vista does not load past the 'loading' page. just hangs on the screen where the little bar that's on the bottom of the screen goes from left to right!
obviously waiting to load windows, but thats as far as it gets, I've left it for a while to see if anything, but no joy. I have to turn of the laptop by the power button
which turns it off immediately, no pressing for 3 or 4 seconds like 'normal' (which leaves me thinking that nothing has loaded at all)

Steps taken so far but to no joy.....

F8-
Booting into safe mode -
loads a couple of pages of drivers and the stalls at CRC ... (or something of the kind) for ever and a day

Last known good config -
no joy.

F10 -
Launch recovery repair, this is the good bit!!!! when I choose to launch it, Nothing happens!!! just returns to the same options. launch recovery or start normally.
well starting normally dont help and recovery repair dont load either!!.

Booting from vista recovery disk didnt work either, as it just took me to the option to repair or start manually!!!

laptop came with no vista disk,
the bios is recognising my hdd.

I can get to the 'Edit windows boot option" screen (which is a little out of my knowledge )
but this is some of the text-

hi,,,, as you have access to another pc,,,, download this and burn iso image to disc,,, then boot from the disc drive and use the start up repair option.

hi,,,are you booting from the disc drive,, you must change the boot priority to the disc drive by pressing f2 or f8 when the pc starts up, if this does not work then boot into the bios and change the boot priority in there, but dont forget to change it back when all is ok,,,,,, have you got access to a full or recovery vista disc,,,, borrow one from a mate or a relation,,,, then boot from the disc and try a startup repair.

hi, just looked through your post again and this is the bit you need

I can get to the 'Edit windows boot option" screen

set to boot from disc drive 1st,,, then save changes and restart with the disc in the drive and follow instructions on boot.
