hi
I noticed today that when i rebooted my pc, a window appeared saying windows had suffered a critical error and would close in 1 minute.
this it did but each time it restarted, i would get the same message, and continual rebooting.
I managed to stop it appearing eventually (not sure how) but it returned later when i decided to update AVG FREE 8.5 to AVG FREE 9,
the update would show as downloaded but i could not find it each time.
eventually I uninstalled AVG and downloaded complete version 9 installed correctly (i think) then ran scan which only seemed to find tracking cookies, now cleared.
but i decided to install adaware to check for maleware, after install i ran the scan which stopped after a few seconds, then received message cannot access service (same message each time).
then tried to run hijackthis, same message each time
then tried spybot, same thing happened.
then tried Malwarebytes same message each time.
next tried to follow guide on here for removal, downloaded and ran DDS
got as far as a few seconds of DOS screen then it disappeared.
all apps have been downloaded afresh and some renamed (as advised) to try and get past suspected infection, but no luck.
each one ran for a few seconds and then disappeared.
any suggestions as to what to do next ??
many thanks for your help
