Screen too dim, Have tried new inverter and LCD I'm not sure what else to do!

I am at my wits end, I have replaced both the Inverter and the LCD Panel on a Toshiba satellite m45, and the screen is still too dim.

I am just looking for some help perhaps a quick comment to tell me "YOU FORGOT TO DO THIS"

I've tried with 3 different inverters from the same (or other satellites) just to the same result, Could it be something on the motherboard?

It's the video card, most likely.

I figured as much, any quick way to determine that for sure? a multimeter?

I don't have much experience with laptop hardware, so I couldn't tell you.
The graphics card is built-in to the motherboard. I don't think it can be replaced without replacing the entire motherboard.

Have you tried changing the brightness on the screen?

On my toshiba the key combination is: FN+F6 to lower and FN+F7.

Worth a try.

yeah, I know the video card is built into the motherboard, I was just hopping I could determine if it was the video card before taking the computer all apart and replacing the motherboard.

Also, Techextreme thanks but i have already tried the fn and brightness keys!

Is there a screen brightness setting in the BIOS of the laptop?

Some have a setting for that.

If not, my only other suggestion would be a bulb problem in the panel.

The video card would probably not be the culprit as you can still "see" images.

Again, a new LCD was purchased and plug in and I still see the same problem. As far as the bios I have yet to look in there.

If you have a cable that resembles this, it is very possible that one of the very thin wires in it has broken. These type cables are notorious for breaking around the "bend" point.

Yes, that cable was also replaced when the LCD screen i purchased same in.

I know this is going to sound monotonous but....

was the screen a refurb, new from the manufacturer or ebay?

It was an ebay store from whom i purchased many items.

Even if, the original screen had the same problem so i doubt it's a problem with the screen
