I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 and I cannot install flash. I tries several versions of flash and none would install. I am NEW to Ubuntu, so that may be the issue.

You need to follow the tutorials at ubuntuforums.
Did you enable all repositories?
When you have a linux question about a certain linux distribution, go to the forum of that distribution or a forum such as linuxquestions to get an answer, not here.

Hi,
Please don't listen to the poster above you. He is going all over the linux sections and posting useless information. You have a couple of options. I would guess that you have a couple of options. One is to install Adobe's flash which I guess that you have already tried. If you can't get it from the website. I think that you can get it from Synaptic Package Manager.
The second option is to download gnash. This is a free alternative to Adobe's flash. It is created by the GNU project, which also helps to create linux. There is a little bit more work involved but if you can install gnash then you can install anything.
Cheers!
