MOBO upgrade

Ok so I am building a new system, I have everything other than the MOBO, what kind should I look for, my setup will be AMD Phenom II 940 BE X4 processor, 4GB DDR2 memory, running crossfire ATI Radeon HD 4850 cards, 650 watt PSU, will be adding a blu-ray down the line, 640GB hard drive. What is a good option to build upon.

The one rainbow six suggested is an excellent board to. You cannot go wrong with Gigabyte boards. Its what I would go with if I was building that system, though running crossfire I think I would be tempted to use a higher powered PSU. a good quality 650 watt will do it, but not much breathing room, I think Id go with at least a 750-800 watt PSU.

Media Center: Motherboard: Gigabyte mp61p-S3, Processor: AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+, Memory: 6 gigs Patriot DDR2 800, Video: Saphire 4850, Storage: 500 gig Hitachi, PSU: OCZ Fatal1ty 550 watt modular PSU, OS: Windows 7 Ultimate.

RainbowSix's motherboard is very good for AM2+ CPU's like the Phenom II X4 940. If you haven't already purchased the CPU, I suggest getting an AM3 CPU and an AM3-only motherboard. This is becuase the socket is newer and AMD will be releasing new CPU's for it over the next year or two whereas the AM2/AM2+ line is being phased out. There is more upgrade potential for AM3 motherboards.

I am using this MSI 790FXGD70 AMD 790FX Motherboard, Works well and fits together nicely in my pc.

I've heard MSI boards flex if you use large video cards. I can't say for sure because I don't have one.

Unless you're doing some extreme overclocking of multiple components, a 790 motherboard is a total waste for an AM3 system. A 770 board will work just as good and has a lower price tag.

I have seen a lot of MSI boards fail. My brother has been using them almost exclusively the last few years and every single one has failed within a year, and I have several friends who get them DOA. I tend to stay away from 3 letter motherboards. Ive had to do a lot of repairs on computers with faulty ECS boards as well.
