Hi Folks,

When I start my computer it tries to load but then defaults to the grey screen (Start in Safe Mode; Start Windows normally; last best known configuration etc). Using Start Windows normally merely repeats the process. Have not tried Last best config as an urban myth tells me that it may enbed a virus. A blue screen flashes up momentarilly during the loading process. I've managed to isolate the blue screen and it reads:

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

OxOOOOOOED

(Ox82F73900
OxCOOOOOO6
OxOOOOOOOO
OxOOOOOOOO)

Not sure if the O's are alpha or numeric.

Will not start in Safe Mode. I get

multi(o)disk(o) rdisk(o)partition(1)\windows\AppPatch\drvmain.sdb
multi(o)disk(o) rdisk(o)partition(1)\windows\system32\DRIVERS\ACPI.sys
multi(o)disk(o) rdisk(o)partition(1)\windows\system32\DRIVERS\WMILIB.sys

and so on, for 24 lines (I can reproduce them all if required)

Computer then freezes (I've left it overnight and the same screen is still there in the morning)

Hope that's enough information and that somebody can help.

Many thanks in anticipation.

You can download an .iso file which reflects the Recovery Console...you can then burn that file to CD, with a bootable CD resulting which reflects the XP Recovery Console.

Download Recovery Console, Bootable ISO - http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm

How to successfully burn or write an ISO-image to cd or dvd - http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm, take your pick of programs to use.
