Help Please,

I would like to update Java. I deleted Java 2 RunTime Env, SE v1.4.

In removing older versions of Java, do I delete Java™ 6 update 3 contained in ADD or Remove Programs, keep it or delete it???

What Java do I keep as there still remains Java Control Panel in the Control Panel folder. Do I delete that as well before I download the latest version of Java SE Runtime Environment JRE 6 Update 17???

Not sure what Java to keep or delete before downloading the latest Java version.

Thanks,
q11

Many thanks hamluis!

Your advice please. The computer will not restore to any past restore dates. I've tried several RS points in both Normal & Safe Modes. The RS goes thur the proccess completely with no hang ups or errors; however, the same message appears after each reboot;

"Incomplete Restoration"

Your computer cannot be restore to: Saturday October 17, 2009 (any past restore dates)
System Checkpoint

No changes have been made to your computer

I have in the past restored the computer to a past point successfully; it has been a while, though.

I do appreciate your help,

Possibly relevant, http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/share...005113009323013.

I don't use SR at all in XP (rely on routine backups), but I think I will continue to let it function in Windows 7.
