I just wanted to stop by and thank the folks here for the wealth of information you're providing. Through blatant stupidity, I contracted Win32.Virut.56 last night, and as of now all appears to be solved - thanks to Dr. Web Live CD! (Although by the time I found out about the Live CD, I'd run the regular scan in safe mode a couple of times, and had just about rooted it all out.)
So - fingers crossed, and thanks for a fantastic site!
