You may need to add flash and flash sound support.
Does the sound work in any other browser such as epiphany or konqueror?
Have you asked this question on ubuntuforums?

The only browser I've tried is Firefox.
I haven't asked anywhere but here.

TRy this same question on ubuntuforums http://ubuntuforums.org/ first.
Try it on http://www.linuxquestions.org/ second.
If you can grasp the similarities and are able to follow the tutorials and references, http://forums.debian.net may help you some.

I recently upgraded to 9.10, and had no sound also. For some reason the sound was muted after the upgrade. Look on the right side of the top panel, and select the audio icon - deselect mute and see what happens.

Right Click the symbol for the Speaker. Click on show mixer. Increase the PCM one to maximum.

Okay, did you look for any solution?

Did you use http://www.google.com/linux with the boolean terms of ubuntu AND "9.10" AND flash player ?

EDIT: Remove extra-long needless text

Did you ask about Firefox sound as a separate post, use the Google search, ask the mailing lists, or ask at Linux questions or even at forums.Debian.net?

You probably need to install "libflashsupport"
I believe Ubuntu uses Synaptic for software.
Open it up and see if it's installed.

Ubuntu does indeed use Synaptic. libflashsupport has apparently been replaced by flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound, so you may want to look in Synaptic for that instead. Alternatively, open a terminal and type:

CODE
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound

EDIT: Before trying the above command, check to see if these three packages are installed:

adobe-flashplugin
flashplugin-installer
flashplugin-nonfree

(adobe-flashplugin may select the other two automatically when selected)

Thanks. I'll give it a try soon as I get on that computer.

The reason for the long text was and is to prove that irishgodfather did not bother to look for a solution himself.

Stop handing people solutions on a platter and point them to where they can find it themselves.
If he can't find it, he's being lazy.
