Last night I was watching Netflix on my laptop. All of a sudden in the middle of the movie I get a BSOD with the KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR error. I pulled up the info using BlueScreenView.

The report said it was caused by driver: ntoskrnl.exe at address: ntoskrnl.exe+71f00

Ive attached the error report from BSV.

Did you look at the dump file to see what it says?

Nope. Dont know how. This program I used is supposed to do the same thing minus listing all the drivers that could have caused it.

The last line there tells you where the file is.

The error message that you got is a little misleading. When an application throws an error, the error bubbles up until it gets to an application that can handle it. In this case, the application that it claims caused the error is an application that runs pretty much anything. Were you using the Silverlight viewer, or the browser viewer? Has it happened since? Have you done a virus scan lately.

I believe it was Silverlight. Even when using the browser Netflix requires me to install Silverlight so Ive always assumed it was using it. It was the first and only time Windows 7 has BSODed on me since it has been installed. Its been about a month. I have KIS2010 since I won a free liscence from the KIS Shakeit Up Promotion. I did the original full scan and always do incremental scans. I also use MBAM as an on demand malware scanner.

Well, as the saying goes, sometimes poop just happens. If it isn't a reoccurring issue, then I wouldn't worry about it.

I was running another scan with KIS just to double check while I slept. Im pretty sure it crashed again. I was watching Netflix before I fell asleep and I woke up to a Windows has recovered from an unexpected shut down error.

Just checked BlueScreenView and it did crash according to that and it was the same exact error.
