Thought I'd pass this along for any future person having issues getting networked printing to work (in this case, between two vista machines). The particular problem was that I could not send a print job to the computer with the printer without that computer crashing its SubSpooler System App.
I found a solution in the dark midsts of the Internet after seeing plenty of unanswered cases very similar to mine. Right-click the printer and hit properties. Then go to Advanced and hit the Print Processor button. Change the processor to WinPrint.
