I've played around with Ubuntu, Suse, and Fedora 9. Linux is effing hard.

Linux is not hard. You need to approach it with an open mind a willingness to learn.
Punkbuster doesn't accept the wine api is why call of duty doesn't completely run on linux.
Since Linux is a kernel, the disro depends on factors such as:
cpu architecture
desired use
user interface
kernel type
memory type.Are graphics involved? what type? audio? what type?
interfaces or is it remotely accessed by ssh?
will there be networking?
which package manger if one is even used?
Does it use x? how? which release?
virtualization or no?

The list continues.
A perfectly good linux distro is one that the person using it has configured to work for him or her.

actually, that would be an easy work around. the big reason is Linux doesnt support Direct X. why would it, running microsoft software would ruin the OS. :-X which is why I dual boot. :D

Direct X is supported through wine.
Microsoft software can run through wine.

Windows can't play games.

Is Cedgea dead or something? It was a fairly good way to get games for windows running on linux. it wasn't free but it worked well.

never tried that, Ive never actually bought anything for linux always went with the free stuff. Though I would suspect that since you pay for it it would probably work better then wine. still probably wont be able to fully run every windows game on the market, but hey life goes on. Ill have to look into it :D
