my second hard Drive crashed, can't login to computer

The computer isn't playing along. First, it still looks for the now-missing SATA drive even though I put the C drive in the first hard drive slot and put the jumper in so it is set as the master drive. Second, even though I changed the boot sequence so it boots first from the CD-Rom, it still goes straight to the blue password screen. The CD-Rom revs up when it's supposed to, but it stops when the password screen comes on.

Have you tried a different bootable CD in the drive to ensure that the CD isn't the problem.
