That is called ghosting
While it's easy transferring to a new hard drive in the same computer, using a different computer will likely cause problems

I used an application thats not free but very very easy to use called PCmover. I bought the retail version which included the USB cable to connect one machine to the other.
The Internet is so big, so powerful and pointless that for some people it is a complete substitute for life.

I have heard these applications can cause errors, i did all of mine manually. took some time but it was worth it.

In my case it worked flawlessly. Not saying there isn't risk, but any move comes with inherent risk. I consider myself fortunate. Therefore I feel comfortable making the recommendation.
