I'm new to this site, so hello to everyone. My problem is this. My computer crashed and windows was affected and won't open up. I borrowed a cd to re-install windows, unable to save my old one. The problem is it keeps asking me for a product key which I don't have anymore. What to do? Without my computer, I am nothing. Please help. Thanks

You are pretty much out of luck, it is like no ticky no shirty! Your best option is to buy a new OS, you can find some cheap stuff on Ebay.

If this is a store bought PC then you should be able to contact the manufacturer for restore CDs. Some charge S&H some offer them free.

Worth a try.

If you can somehow access your hard drive you can use the Belarc Advisor or magical jellybean to find the key
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

Any other way would be a violation of BC's Rules:

No subject matter will be allowed whose purpose is to defeat existing copyright or security measures. If a user persists and/or the activity is obviously illegal the staff reserves the right to remove such content and/or ban the user. This would also mean encouraging the use or continued use of pirated software is not permitted, and subject to the same consequences.

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
