When I restart my computer the date always resets to 2001 January 1st.
The time is always wrong also.
( Yes, I have my clock synchronized with windows time, but it can't obtain the RPC server so I use google. " Time ;city; " )
Also, I'm on a laptop using Window XP HOME, every time a box pops up ( Such as, in task manager when I want to end a task. ) the mouse automatically moves to Yes, or OK, what ever the first button is. How do I disable this?

First thing to do is to change the CMOS [motherboard] battery if you haven't done so already
Mark
why won't my laptop work?
Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

I'm going to be honest. I don't know much about laptops, I'm a desktop person. And this is probably my second laptop, but the other ones I've had have never had any problems. This laptop was basically a 'gift'.
CMOS battery is on the motherboard, yes? A coin like thing? I saw something like that when I had checked the laptop.
I had googled my problem and they said to take the CMOS battery in and out, and I did.
I don't know where to get a new CMOS battery, there is a computer store near here, so I guess I'll take the laptop down there later on today.

A new battery...is available anywhere (Walmart, food stores, etc.) that sells batteries for electronics/watches, etc.
Brand is unimportant, should be CR2032 model unless the one you take out is different.
