I want to buy a laptop and I'm not sure what brand to get or what to look for because I don't know very much about computers. I will be using it for surfing the internet, using my webcam, storing pictures, and music. I'm not too worried about space for pictures and music though. Also I was thinking about getting a refurbished laptop. Is that a good idea? I'm on a budget. Thanks for your help.

Instead of refurbished, you can shop around for a used laptop. You can get a $700-$800 laptop on ebay or craigslist for $450-$500 if you shop around long enough. You could even get some netbooks brand new for $450.00

Heck I've even seen some fully loaded Dell PC's in Walmart for $500.00 and thats with the screen included. I don't know if they still have that deal.

<<I'm on a budget.>>

How large is the budget?

IMO, just about any laptop is built to handle what your computer activites seem to be...so, it comes down to personal preferences.

Examples follow:
