BleepingComputer.com: Firefox loading secure sites very slowly

Hope someone can help here

Firefox 3.5.3 recently seems to be loading secure sites very slowly - I'm pretty sure it happened after the last major MS updates that they rolled out (system is XP)

All other sites are fine but as soon as its something secure it just loads sooooooo slowly....

Is there a setting somewhere that might have been changed that's causing this?

All scans with AV and Anti-spyware are clean and temp files/cache are regulary cleaned out

Curious are you running AVG? If so disable AVG Safe search, I know of two complaints with AVG since the last big MS update.

Yes am running AVG and AVG safe search is enabled will try and see what disabling does

AH Thanks for that - running nice and fast now Looks like that was the cause

Edited to add: Installed the new AVG free 9 - is faster with safe search running but still faster without it (though faster than 8.5)
