I bought a refurb a few months ago. How do I go into my settings to find out whether it is already pre-equipped to work with a wireless router (for my cable internet)?

I'll assume you mean a refurb laptop. Look in device manager under network adapters. That is where it will be listed.

My fault. I meant a refurb desktop. Would I still look under DM/NA? And what terminology will I be looking for specifically?

Yes Device Manager and it should be very obvious, it should say blah blah blah wireless adapter or 802.11(some letter) adapter. But seriously the chances a desktop has wireless is rather slim. They don't normally come with wireless.
