We run a business with several office workers that have to coordinate with several outside sales people.

Currently, we use dotProject for our project management (construction projects/equipment sales into new buildings) and we use XRMS for our CRM/contact management.

We would ideally like an all-in-one solution that can integrate all of these functions. Other "wish list" items are mobile browser/blackberry compatibility, SSL compatibility and VPN compatibility. (we do not currently have a VPN but would like to implement this)

We would prefer this to run on our server. We are big fans of Open Source Software. Another plus would be a great support/forum system. There's good software out there but the support is non-existent (XRMS, for example)

I know this sounds like a big wish list, but we're really looking for an all in one solution, and a solution that is simple and streamlined. We have only 10 employees; we are not a major international corporation!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks.

Well Open Source is a preference. I guess what we're really adverse to is a subscription. We don't like the idea of paying monthly for such a system, especially since we have a Linux VPS we can tap into.

Have you looked at Sugar CRM ? I don't think it will support all of your requirements, but then I think you are asking quite a lot for a core, critical application - you probably will end up paying something for this.

MS Dynamics CRM can be run on your premises and has great customisation and extendability (using Windows Workflow Foundation and/or custom .net code). Can definitely be used as a platform to develop the sort of solution you want, no need to pay on a subscription necessarily.
