BleepingComputer.com: When teac external floppy drive is accessed, pc reboots

I have used a teac USB external 3.5" floppy disk drive running on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 for several months. Recently when I try to read a floppy, it reboots the computer every time. I thought it was the drive gone bad, so I bought a new Memorex USB external floppy drive. The same thing happens when I try to access the disk with the new drive. When I attach the teac drive to my laptop using Windows Vista, it works perfectly.

I appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

You might try removing your all USB controllers (via Device Manager) and then rebooting and allowing them to reinstall.

I tried all of the above and it made no difference. Plugged drive into a different USB port and it still reboots the PC every time I try to access the drive. Any other suggestions?

I can't think of anything that would allow the drive to work on one system, but not another...other than the USB controllers/ports.

You might check Event Viewer for errors that might provide clues.

If software came with that drive, you might uninstall/reinstall it.
