Laptop, Windows Vista Home premium, SP 2. Mum has it 4 months, windows update shows error 80070002 (I have tried EVERYTHING I have found on the web to rectify this...Nothing works, been at it the last 2 days! Also, for the last two days the laptop has been freezing every few minutes!! Seems to be only with a web page open (I think), so sorry about the blunt post...trying to get it all down before it freezes for the second time... Please help, thanks!

Is that happening with all browsers or is it 1 particular browser you are using ?
Does the laptop work ok before you open any browsers ?

The browser is Internet Explorer. Could this be related to the fact that as of yet windows update has never worked?? The laptop was purchased 4 months ago! Thanks for the speedy reply!

This morning I tried going through Firefox and same thing happened...froze after a few minutes, so I then restarted and did not open any web pages...same thing happened even with no browsers open... any ideas??
I have also run a number of scans (antivirus, antimalware, online scan housecall, etc etc etc). Nothing found on any scans. All cookies cleared with CC cleaner. I don't know what else to try. I have a feeling there is some folder or something missing in Windows update...?

In case anyone was wondering, I wiped the PC and reinstalled the OS. All is well now!
