Hello,
I'm planning to buy a new processor for my pc.

I'm looking for a dual core about the 100 Euro
i have put my current system information below

i hope you can give me the best advice for a new processor(but for about 100 euro, I'm sure i can get a much better one for that money than the current one.

up till now i've been told to get a new motherboard ( MA770-UD3 ) along with this processor ( X2 240 ) now i would like to know, will this motherboard fit, do i need other hardware for this?, my power-supply is now 250 volt guess it will not be enough.... the motherboard and processor are already 120 euro now(still if you think i don't need a new motherboard at all please explain your idea)

Looks to me like it supports Core2 Duo processors...whichever you can afford.

Do use caution, just because a motherboard will take Core 2 doesn't mean that every Core 2 CPU will run on your motherboard. Here's further information on your chipset complete with all acceptable CPU's. It's seems like many of the older 65nm CPU's will work with it.

I was gonna mention that your board prolly wont accept 45nm CPUz but you could check
to see if Acer (not sure if Aopen make those boards) do an updated bios that will allow
you to install one of the new E7400z which are around 100euros. It might be worth checking
and somebody will help you flash your bios im sure.

To be honest ive just had a quick look for bios upgrades and its looking pretty bleak so
unless there is something specifically wrong with your Pentium D i dont see the point of
buying a new processor. You would be better off upgrading your motherboard, cpu, & RAM
you can sometimes get good deals by buying them bundled together.
