So I am looking to upgrade to an HD monitor and I wanted to make sure my computer can even handle that.

Monitor I'm looking at

System specs

RAM: 4GB DDR2 1066

CPU: 2.8GHz AMD Athlonx2 Kuma 7850 Black Ed.

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA770-UD3

GPU: EVGA 9800GTX+

Any tips suggestions, pointers, tricks, and all help is appreciated

It should handle it, I'm using the same GPU with an even larger monitor.

I run an Acer X203w on an Asus 9400GT (through DVI) and it works great. Hack, if I'm not mistaken, an old Voodoo 3DFX could run the monitors. Just not very well, and in VGA instead of DVI :D

your frame rate at 1080p is going to be lower then a lower resolution no matter what game or card you use. if you have the best top of the line card out there, your frame rate at 1080p with GTA4 is going to be lower then at 1680 x 1050. However, still playable. I would imagine, (im not a NVIDIA boy) that your 9800 will handle COD WAW or GTA4 at 1920 x 1080 at a playable rate. :D

I've got GTAIV running at 1900x1200 with most visual effects on, but I'm using SLI with a 9800GTX and a more powerful system. That game is known for using any available PC resource. Games will run fine on it, but it is getting a bit old even though Nvidia sells it as the GTS 250.
