Dell Dimension E520 with GeForce 8600GT? Is GeForce 8600GT compatible with a Dell Dimension E520

Hello there, I was just wundering weather the nVidia GeForce 8600GT would be compaible with the Dell Dimension E520, its current card is GeForce 7300 LE.

My computer has 3Gb of RAM and is currently running Xp. I'm not sure on the power supply.

It has the PCIe slot for the card, so that 's OK. It is up to you to figure out if the power supply is adequate, and if there is enough room in the case for the videocard.

If you open the side panel (the side window), on the power supply (usually it is at the top, back of the case) there should be a sticker with some text on it.

It should look like this - 450W or 650W

Hope that helps, if not, take a picture of the sticker, upload it here and post it.

NOTE: Be sure that the computer is turned off, if your not a professional in this type of work and before touching anything inside, touch the metal case, so you will ground the case and cant cause electrical shocks.

I looked at it, and it said 305m I don't know if thats enought to power tha graphics card with it having a fan on.

Are crap I ment watt's, well it says on the label DC Output: 305W, if thats the right thing. :thumbsup:

Well, the requirements for that graphics card are 350W, Im not sure if a 305W PSU will work.

If I were you I'll buy a 450W PSU to be on the safe side.
