Microsoft Publisher alternative

Is there any free/opensource program that is similar to Publisher? I cant really get similar functions with OpenOffice or TextEdit (which indicates I'm on a Mac).

Thanks for any help.

Specifically I want to print flyers right now, but I'm sure other needs will pop up in the future.
